Second grade is learning about their community

Students on Mrs. Askvig’s and Ms. Singer’s second grade classes are learning about jobs in our community and all the ways that those people keep us safe. In late September police officers from the Des Moines Police Department came to share what it is like to work as an officer. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about the police officers role in the community. On October 5th Moore enjoyed a visit from a few firefighters. After hearing what they had to say about the importance of their jobs students headed outside to get up close and personal with a fire truck! It was an exciting day and Moore and students loved having special guests in the building.
