The Journey to Become an IB World School

When Moore was re-opened in 2015, it was with the intent to become an authorized Primary Years Programme with IB.  This would provide each region of the Des Moines district with a both a Primary Years and Middle Years Programme.

The journey to become and authorized PYP school is about a 3 year journey.  Our first year was spent in consideration and ensuring support from all stakeholders.  Spring of 2016, we applied to be a candidate school and were accepted.  We began working on implementing the standards and practices of IB.  As a part of that journey, our programme of inquiry was created and is the foundation of our teaching.  We have spent last year and this year on a trial implementation of the programme.  We are excited that in the spring of 2018 we will have our verification visit.  During the visit, a team of two representatives of IB will come and meet with all stakeholders and do classroom observations to look for evidence of the standards and practices.  We hope to hear the summer of 2018 of our authorization status.
